I recently picked up an '84 200x with a ripped up seat. I knew right away I'd be trying my hand at recovering the seat. Here's the results (used the Mosh tutorial, which was very helpful):

I got new seat foam, recovered with vinyl and then made up some cardboard stencils for the lettering and used vinyl spray paint for the lettering. I really liked the 200x logo from the '85-87 200x models (with the blue seat), so added that as well. I still struggle with the corners as you can tell from the next photo, but am fairly happy with the overall results (amidst several mistakes). Anyone know of a good video of the process of doing the corners?

Looks nice. I just did my tri moto and it's got a metal seat pan with little hooks. Half of them were broken off so I ended up using epoxy because there is no stapling metal. It ended up being a pain. It looks alright. Not as nice as yours but pretty good compared to the shredded one it had on there.

Looks good. Did mine too. The premade one I got from Ebay was junk and wouldn't fit. Just went to Joanns and got some blue vinyl and did my own. The blue color is off a little from stock but you can' t tell too much. I agree on the corners. One came out perfect on mine and one was a little off. Certainly takes some practice.

I used my vinyl cutter to make the stencils and then vinyl paint. Next time I'm gonna try and use heat transfer vinyl.

Very nice. I see you filled in the bridges on the stencil as well. Looks great!

lol, cutting the stencil with my vinyl cutter and sticking it on to the seat doesn't create the stencil marks!! Paint and then just peel it right off..

Nice job guys! Can you tell me where you are getting your seat foam from? Was it pre cut into the seat shape or a raw block that you cut the seat shape from?

I got my seat foam off ebay. I suspect it was poured into a proper mould, as opposed to being cut, but the important part is that I didn't have to make any modifications to it - fit the seat pan just fine. This was my second seat job, first was a 200s using a pre-fabbed seat cover, and re-using the old foam. Probably could have re-used the old foam in this case as well, but wanted to try new this time, and use a one-piece cover.

Nice job webbch! I think the corners look pretty good from what i can see. maybe after some use and some warm days you wont even notice. It is a great improvement on what you had. Thanks for the motivation to go try something rather than just order it.

Thanks for the reply, I will keep checking for seat foam for my US90. The vinyl cover is decent but the foam is shot and I need all the padding I can get riding a hard tail trike! ;)
