125M Shift Issues

A buddy of mine has an 85 125M. A few days ago it just stopped shifting for him. We haven't opened the case yet, but the lever still feels normal (not much play in it), but you can't feel the Engage/Disengage at Full Up/Down positions. We tried doing a quick adjustment on the clutch as per the service manual, but still nothing. I don't really know much about the 125's. Anybody run into this before?

I bet you this part is broken http://dratv.com/268n.html. The 85 125m is notorious for this part snapping in half. the cases dont half to be split just the right side cover.

I've got one that broke the aluminum boss that the shift drum stopper bolts TO.
Possible to weld.. thinking kbonly did one or more like that.

Yeah bad design, best and better with some sort of shoulder bolt or stepped washer.

if you do go in, try to read as much aas you can about upgrading so it doesn't bind and snap something else.
That drum stopper is like 10 bucks and an ez fix, or as difficult as I'd care to deal with.
