Wiring on 1982 Honda 185s ????

Bought aftermsrket headlight has three wires black green yellow also bought a kill switch/headlight switch off eBay . Hooked up kill switch wires black to black and green to green. On the harness the person I got bike from had the brown and yellow wires connected together so I cut them and hooked yellow wire to yellow wire on switch and same with brown . When trying to hook up headlight the black wire is ground so I hooked up into were green wire from kill switch went like it shows on schematic but neither other to wires work even if I swap around any body know why

is that a 6 or 12 volt system?
Lighting coil may be separate from the ignition coil, I forget.
Does the new light work off a generic battery?
12 volt light may not work with only 6 volts etc.
I'd try the light with a battery to make sure it works and then try it to the original headlight wires.
There may be a hi AND lo beam combination.
