Being a kid growing up in the 80's, my favorites were shows like, Knight Rider, Airwolf, Dukes of Hazzard, Magnum PI.

That's about all I can think of at the moment.....

Dukes of Hazard, Knight Rider, BJ and the bear...
Sanford and Son, and without a doubt...

Archie Bunker (All in the family)
I doubt that half that trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro would fly from that show now.... it was so "intolerant" by today's ffd up politically correct standards..Nobody was safe from "profiling"
As the intro song title states..

HeeHaw was kickass

Ahhh....the A Team.....cultivating my lust for the Ruger Mini Thirty in Stainless.....then I bought one and quickly got over it although my mini was far more accurate than the rifles they used in the show which never seemed to inflict ANY wound on ANY bad guy on ANY season....even our filmed gunplay scenes were more polite and sanitary back then in comparison to contemporary TV violence

Can't go wrong with little rascals but may be the wrong era.

...and to the thought about violence?
Weren't western THE most popular shows there for a while.
It was ALL about side arms and everyone shooting everyone
for whatever reason.
kinda like reality these days.
Funny we had less street violence back when those shows were on all the time.
and all the kids ran around with capguns and toy handgranades etc etc

Archie was probably the best sitcom character of all time. Like you said due to the political correctness of today YouTube is about the only place to find clips of the show.

Mama's family was also one of my favorites.

Uummmmmmm..... I dunno! LOL! ;)

I used to watch alot of PBS when I was a kid growing up.. And being that I was always sort of into science and whatnot, remember 3-2-1 Contact?? LOL! Another one of my favorites.

Then in afternoons, it was always a fight between me and little brother.. He wanted to watch Mr. Rogers, I wanted to watch Magnum P.I.! HAHA!

Speak in of Mr Rogers....Look up Mr Robinson's neighborhood from Saturday Night Live from the 80s with Eddie Murphy.
Some of the funniest skits of all time were from The eddie murphy days. YouTube has most of em blocked out so you should use Google.

Forgot about Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers

This is a classic and shows just how far people have gotten away from satire and misconstrue a simple joke into offensive behavior..

Just trying to cover a few that I can't believe haven't been named:

Best of the West
Police Squad! (Both short lived and right in my sense of humour wheelhouse)

Night Court (ever notice my brother looks like Bull Shannon, the baliff from that show)

But my favorite has to be THREE'S COMPANY - RIP John Ritter

Other good ones: Alice, Newhart (....and this is my other brother Daryl), ALF, Perfect Strangers, Bosom Buddies

Not so good ones that I watched anyway: Silver Spoons, Family Ties, Growing Pains, Small Wonder

Don't forget that The Simpsons got their start in the 80's on the Tracy Ullman Show

Finally, I have to wonder if I was the only person that watched every episode of Manimal

That's Incredible.

My best friend growing up and I got into huge trouble after I shot him in the shoulder with a field point after we watched a Chinese guy on this show catch arrows that were shot at him. We, of course were convinced we could replicate this....wrong. I got the bow, my buddy is doing the "catching" (lol) and after ten attempts he says "you`re shooting them too far to my right to grab them. Don`t be a sissy! Shoot at me and I will get out of the way in time if I have to!"......which was absolutely NOT true. After taking him to the hospital to have the arrow pushed back out of his shoulder, we got "The Belt" from both my parents and his....Ahhh the good ole days

great show

Captain kangaroo

and Mr. Green Jeans....epic
