Hello I have a 1972 atc 90 with hi and low range, I had the motor rebuilt witha whole new top end and i was riding it today and it ran very well and all of a sudden the rear wheels locked up and it stopped with it in high range this also happens in low range. If I move it backwards it becomes unlocked up and I ride it again but it goes through all of the gears very well but locked up occasionally. If anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it

I'd pull the tranny cover off and take a look in there, although I've never rebuilt one of these trannys myself I've seen one taken apart first hand, If you've got a manual should be able to figure it out

This may sound simple but I'd investigate the simple stuff first, broken brake shoes, chain too loose.

I 2nd the chain tension, could be jumping off the front sprocket & binding. Then when you pull it backward it jumps back on & is fine for a little while. The only other thing I can think of is maybe something is getting caught in the teeth on your tranny,& again when you roll it backward it dislodges it. If it's in the high low range no big deal, if it's in the main transmission in the case, well lets just hope it's not. let us know something buddy!
