Hello everybody,
I just picked up a new to me Honda trike, dirt cheap. The owner thought it was a 200s, but the engine says 180cm, so it must be a 185s, probably 82-82. I haven't verified the VIN yet.
The trike is rough. Its been sitting for quite a while in the central Oregon elements. The cool thing about this 185s is that it's got a full aftermarket suspension system on it. I've identified the manufacturer to be PK racing.
I am not sure if I should start investing the time to fix it up, or if I should offer it to somebody who has fewer unfinished projects than I do, and $$ to invest. It will probably take quite a bit of work to sort out. As of yesterday, the engine does not have spark, but the compression feels quite high, almost as if the motor has been Powrol'ed or something. Its really hard to pull over without the decompression release. The original gas tank is dented and rusty inside, the original plastics and seat are trashed, the chain is rusty, etc. , and the list goes on. Its really a killer old trike, just needs a ton of love. I'll try to post some pics in a day or two.
I just picked up a few necessities to hopefully get some spark. I'll start checking connections, and other basics soon. I'm sure the motor will run if I can get spark.

Okay, Okay guys. I will post pics asap. It might take me a few more days though. I'm pretty swamped with kid related duties throughout the week. I promise I'm not making it up.

I still cant get the engine to make spark. I've only tinkered for about an hour. The carb looks good, but a little varnished. I expected the engine oil to look like mud, but surprisingly, it looks fresh.

Ok 185 gurus....what forks are those? I haven't seen Schrader valves on a 90 degree angle like that before

Nice Score, it should clean up nicely. Probably aftermarket caps. Does the air box drain actually connect to the crankcase breather.

Yes, the air box drain is connected to the crankcase breather. Not for long though, there is water in the hose. I'll have to find some stock pics to see if its actually supposed to connect the two. I really doubt it. I love the custom pull start handle myself, really ergonomic.

I like it, I bet if you sunk 2-3 hundred into it, she would fly.... New seat, New tires, and a nice tune up would be worth it. Disc brake would be a decent upgrade as well. Nice find, how much did you give for it? If it's not asking too much.

Very, very cool.. I bet there is a heap of people that would love to have that in their collection. Is that a Works rear shock?

Up to you man, but you got some sweet pieces already on that bike. I would keep it.

Thats an impressive score.I was expecting alot worse when you said it sat out in the Oregon elements but it honestly looks to be in great shape considering. Nice survivor for sure.
I would clean it up and keep it.

Thanks for the input guys. I am still not sure what I'm going to do with it. I could eventually fix it up, but that would take me a while with my other projects. I also don't have a really good place to store it while it waits. I have no more room in my shop, it's ridiculous. I hate getting rid of a cool find.
I recently acquired a 1976 Hodaka wombat, and a 1979 Susuki rm100. The Hodaka is mostly complete, and actually started after sitting outside untouched for over 25 years. The Susuki is almost complete, and was place outside as a roller after the original piston cracked. The cylinder isn't even scuffed. That was at least 20 years ago. I literally had to dig both bikes out of the soil where they had settled into the ground. These two projects are separate from my 5 other bikes, two running trikes, and my old BMW M635csi that needs fixing. Ive got some prioritizing to do.

That is works shock. Looks like an OEM rear axle and an XR200R or a 200X muffler. I am going to say those forks are either from a street bike or an early 1970's yamaha dual purpose bike. Notice the low fiender mounts on the forks just below the dust seal. I have never seen one like that.

Dinosaur thread resurrection!!! Well guys, I was just informed by my landlord that I need to be moved out my my house in 30 days. This means that I need to rid myself of a few future projects. Unfortunately, I will not have a safe place to store the 185s very soon, so I'm looking for a buyer. If anyone here is interested please PM me, or email me at duncangirard@hotmail.com , or call me at 541-977-5479. This atc needs to go to a good home where somebody will give it the time and attention it deserves. My time has run out for now. I am flexible on the price. Thanks everyone.
