Hey,

I am trying to figure out what the specs are for a YT175 carb. I am in the tear down mode of this rebuild and trying to piece everything together.

Manual says that the YT175 came with a Mikuni VM24SS, however, that is the only info I can find. Searching the web (for the last 2 hours) comes up with nothing.

From what I have already broken down on the trike, it appears I have the lower half of the engine from a YT125G and the entire top end from a YT175 ( including exhaust ). The frame is also that of a YT125G. There is a fuel pump as well.

Now, I am puzzled again with the carb. I am hoping someone can fill in the blanks as I cannot locate any info on the YT125's as easy as I can for the YT175's

The only number stamped on the carb is 20E 00 and is in the last picture

Thanks

Hello,

My yt175K has the stock carb, and it has identical markings to yours. I believe the "24" in vm24 indicated the diameter of the slide inside the carb. I know its not a VM20 because I've got one of those on my restored Honda ct-70, and the slide is quite a bit smaller than the one on my yt175. I have not actually measured the diameter of the slide in my carb. The VIN number, and some other 1984 specific parts for the yt175 such as the extra spacer ring inside the clutch pack all had the "20 E" prefix on the part number. Most likely your carb, cylinder, etc were from a 1984 yt175. The 1984 and 1983 carbs are identical as far as I know, but they went down one size on the pilot jet from a 40 to 35, and went up one size on the main from a 165 to 170 on the 1984 model. The "20 E"on the carb most likely indicates it had the 1984 spec jets.

Not sure if this would fit .. just looking for suggestions. As stated in first post, the manual states the carb should be a Mikuni VM24SS, however there are no markings on the carb. The measurements I took in the pictures I am uncertain of as well. Duncan stated the 24 in VM24 is the diameter of the slide, but when I measured mine it shows 27.73 (give or take).

In my search for a carb rebuild kit, I found this online ......

This looks like what I need, but not sure about the measurements I took. I am still researching before jumping into the purchase, just looking for some help and suggestions.

Also, what would a reliable aftermarket complete carb be if I need to go that route.

Thanks

No your measurement was little off
Your first pic. Was close but your calipers need to reach further into wear the slide is
But you got a 175 carb.
Watch out the clutch set up are different between the two
