So, my recently acquired ATC 70 is my first bike with a left hand brake and I've sometimes grabbed a handful of brake when shifting gears. Obviously its a habit from racing motorcycles and riding dirtbikes/4 wheelers all my life which usually have the clutch on the left hand. I've done lots of searches and didn't find what I was looking for so here I am. My 70 has a Honda 110 motor in it which is the cause of my headache. Let me digress... I found the foot brake kit for 70's from Spanglers and was thrilled so I called and placed my order. Got the foot pegs, shifter and brake kit. It came in today and the foot pegs won't fit because the bolt pattern on the engine is different. The brake kit won't work with the 110 foot pegs either because of the placement of the lever so I'm back to square one. I still want the foot brake but can't find anything in my searches. Is there possibly anyone here who can help?

I did a whole lot of searching before posting this so please help me out with something besides "use the search function".

Do you have any pics or a link to the kit you bought?

No way to drill holes to make the foot pegs bolt up to the 110 motor?

If I were to drill new holes, they wouldn't be completely on the mounting plate. In other words, the mounting plate isn't big enough to drill new holes.

If you want a foot brake you're going to have to fab something up.

Or you could change the bars and move the brake to the right side like I did. brake perch/lever and different cable were all I needed.

I have thought about the right side brake lever and I haven't ruled it out. I would really like to use the foot brake though. Kind of tough to walk a wheelie in first gear using the brake and throttle on the same hand. Thats not my real concern though. My actual concern is being able to operate the bike one handed because my left hand will most likely be occupied when riding this thing.;)

I threw up a post to reply to this but a mod has to let it through. The foot brake kit was purchased from Spanglers Off Road. Here is the link: http://www.hondaatc70.com/Pages/BoltOnFootBrake.aspx

If I were to drill holes in the new foot pegs to mount to the 110 motor, they would be on the edge of the new mounting bracket.

I bought the shifter from Spangler as well and this is where it would end up. Wrong angle because the 110 shifter is still on but you can see that it would probably be too short.

The foot brake is my main concern over the pegs and shifter but if I were to use the foot brake kit with the 110 pegs, this is where the lever would end up (assuming I used the supplied parts).

That could do the trick. I will order one and let you know how it works out. Thanks for the link.

Install a cup holder to give your left hand a little more free time.

Looks like one side is tack welded to the plate.
You may have to break that weld.
I think that is designed to put 110 footpegs on the 50/70 platform.
I think the 110 spacing has the welded bolts, they shouldn't have tacked it in my opinion since you could attach the footpegs to the adaptor then mount the adaptor.
But you should be able to break the welds and use it to convert either way.
Hope I made sense...

I'm pretty sure that adapter at DRATV won't work. It's to adapt the CT style pegs to the Chinese motor. IIR The pattern on the CT pegs is almost the same but offset to one side. That bracket just moves them over to center them.

Like I said, fab something up or find a buddy that can. A piece of steel, a grinder and a drill press and you should be golden.

Got it in and this is exactly correct. The 4 bolts that are welded in are welded in the opposite holes than what I need. I am just going to cut the welds and put them into the other holes.

You are correct. The holes are offset but this might actually help since I am trying to sort something out with the 110 motor and the foot brake. I will be sure to post up what I come up with and how it turns out.

I like where your heads at but spillage is just flat out unacceptable.

Hope it works out, it should...
If the spacing is offest to work one way, only makes sense the other holes would do the opposite.

Hey guys, just wanted to report back on how things ended up. In my original post, i said that the foot brake kit from Spanglers wouldn't work with the 110 motor and foot pegs but after installing and making some minor tweaks, it worked well. The brake lever is a bit further inside than I'd really like but after shimming it with some washers, it worked out much better than I thought.

I decided just to run the original 110 foot pegs because moding the adapter plate to make the custom 70 pegs work was going to put things in places that I didn't like (foot pegs would have been offset and lower than normal). The 110 pegs worked well with the foot brake lever so I returned the 70 pegs and shifter.
