84 ATC200s Transmission/shifting/clutch issue?

really had a hard time to decide what to call my thread, so I threw it all out there. I have been driving the little red monster for the past 4 months without any problems. Yesterday it started "skipping" in 1st-3rd with 1st and 2nd being the worst. This happens when I accelerate, feels like a tooth is being skipped. Honestly, I don't even have an idea where to start looking? Or what it may be to be honest?

Start by inspecting gears. It also could just need an oil change, it is amazing what bad oil will do to gears.

the person before me didn't take all that much care of it, I just did an oil change on it, does it have a separate gear oil?

I don't believe they do.

We figured it out, it was the chain and sproket.... aparently the original chain and sproket were still on there, and the chain was skipping
