I'm curious on how I would get my 3 wheeler to have head lights without a key they don't turn on. Do you have to have a key?

you have to have a switch for the headlight with the stock harness. honestly I dont know how anybody hacked up the harness to make it run without the key. here is a cheap key set that should work just fine.http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Wire-ATV-Quad-Dirt-Bike-Scooter-Pocket-Key-Switch-TaoTao-Baja-Peace-Sunl-NEW/400754246112?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%2 6asc%3D28808%26meid%3D6e5014f1400a47e0bd19156a8c2c a59e%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D110 874193014. and here is a link to the 3wheeler world page that i found it on. http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php/161148-Wired-in-a-cheap-o-Chinese-ignition-switch-84-200es

Actually if you unplug the key switch it will still start right up with pull cord. I bought an 84 125m with no key and ran it for over a year that way... the key only grounds the spark and trips a relay... the relay is always on when the plug is disconnected ...try it on a good working one to verify.

I had a trike that I bought a couple years ago. It was my first trike and there was no key to it. There should be a yellow wire with a red stripe and a red wire. That's the charging system. Then there should be a green wire and a blue wire. That's the on/off switch if you want to call it. what the key does is in the off position, grounds the spark plug and disconnects the charging system and when you turn the key it disconnects the blue and green wire to allow spark, and connects the red and yellow/red wire for the charging system. As long as you have a lighting coil..you should be able to wire up the headlight to the charging system wires...but "86 125m" is right...there should be a switch for the headlight to begin with
