Well i just inherited a 1982 Kawasaki KLT200 Duckster and have no idea what to do with it! It looks mint, but I don't even know if it runs. Never owned any sort of ATV, don't know the first thing. Anything to look for when checking it over before I try and fire it up?

Just fire that baby up and ride. Maybe post a couple pics of the machine. How did you inherit it.

If it's mint mint store it! Rarer bike and it'll only go up in value

Put some fresh gas in that bad boy and go. I can do it for you [emoji6]

I would suggest having the carb cleaned before you ever start. Most of the time people forget to drain the gas on the last ride because they always have intentions of riding but end up not ever riding again...
Please post pic's of the Duck. That is one of my favorite ATV's and Welcome.

But I did take the old supertrapp exhaust off of it though!

drain gas, clean out carb float boat at least, fresh gas, check air filter to see if it is rotted, check air box for rodent nests, check exhaust for rodent nests, check for spark.

Thanks guys, my wife's Uncle passed away from cancer pretty unexpectedly and pretty quickly, leaving a 2 car garage full of his toys. I was able to dig out the 67 Harley Roadster, the 84 Kawasaki 1100 LTD and the 72 Suzuki dirt bike, but I didn't get to the Duckster yet. 212355212356212357 I'm heading back to his place this weekend to dig it out and take some pics. Of all the toys the Duckster is probably the only one I will end up keeping and riding. The only thing I know he rode regularly is the 1100 LTD, the plates on the Harley are from 95, so who knows the last time he rode the Duck.

I would clean the carb and replace fuel lines and put in a 30 micron or finer fuel filter. Replace the air filter too. dont try and take the fuel pump apart, just let the filter catch the gunk. Take care of her and she will last forever. Long live the KLTs-tougher than nails and simple to care for!

Dug her out this weekend, looks pretty clean. Battery works, tires are flat, but that's as far as I got.

Excellent Shape!
That is one nice bike. I would find some original tires and let it sit. Almost too nice to ride.
Glad you ended up with it.
