I joined 3 Wheeler world to try and PM a member here to order some 7" aluminum rims. I have two 1984 atc 70's. One is near mint with only a dent in the gas tank keeping it from being primo. The second is currently being built with a Pitster Pro 140 motor. I would have posted pics up by now but none of my attempted posts are going through. We'll see if this one makes it. I found this site by search for ATC70 wheels.
Here's a pic of the 1984 70's

When I get to my other computer I'll post some progress on the build. I wish Xowner would log in and check his PM's I want a set of 7" rims and am hoping he still has some available.

I would love to have one much less two, just never see these for sale locally.

Steve, I have an 84 for sale for $650.00. Its got new tires, powder coated rims, oil change, fresh points, plastic tank, and a new carb. It needs a home where its going to be ridden. I'm in Choctaw (East OKC).

I said I'd post a little of the build I've posted these on a different forum but I guess it can't hurt to post twice.

I started the tear down and followed some advice given to straighten the frame. I used a pipe and a 1ton chevy jack to go from a humpback tube to a nice straight tube.213593213594213595213596213597

Next I finished the disassembly. I used plastic bags and a marker to organize nuts/bolts/parts so that I'll remember where stuff goes later on.

Next I mocked up the motor to make sure it would fit before paint. I had to grind a little bit of the frame :( on the exhaust side upper motor mount. I also did some figuring on where to weld the oil cooler mount.

Time for a lot of wire brushing, paint stripping and sanding. Followed by a bit of Bondo.213605213606213607213608

$26 at Harbor Freight got me this High Volume Low Pressure paint gun set up.

I had read good reviews about the gun and for the price I thought I'd give it a go. I'm pleased with the results.

The paint was going on good but the gnat on the gas tank during drying sucks. You can see how I decided to go with the oil cooler mount.

Tomorrow I hope to do a little wet sanding and final paint coat before prepping for clear coat. I may even get aggressive and plan out my airbrushing plans for the tank.

Well I got the clear coats done. Paint took forever but it was my first time using a spray gun (I've always rattle canned). I'll not be going back as I'm happy with the paint that I laid down. I started assembly tonight. My goal is to wire brush, wash, or polish every piece that is not new before it makes it back onto the wheeler. Tonight's progress included reinstallation of the rear brakes, axel, new bearings, spacers, hubs, and drum cover. Then I moved onto the front forks, ball bearings, and triple Tee. Here are some progress pictures.

I need my handle bars and aluminum rims/tires with a few odds and end screws to finish my build but she's looking good. Here are some pictures of today's progress.

I was able to borrow a conduit bender and bend my Pitster Pro exhaust header to fit my build tonight. I still need to figure out my hanger but it's coming along.

Tonight I was able to add my Renthal mini high bars (stole 'em new on e-bay for $20.50). I put on my grips, thumb throttle and clutch perch/lever. Still need a kill switch, brake perch/lever, and cross bar pad.

I made some more progress yesterday. I cut the Pitster Pro supplied gear shifter in half and welded a section in to lengthen it. I lowered the pegs. I cut off 1.75 inches of the exhaust and reground the pipe to fit the silencer and made a hanger for the wiring harness. Finally I installed the fuel line and filter and did a couple of heat cycles on the new motor. It sounds mean and I'm excited to figure out my braking system so that I can ride it.

My two 1984 ATC 70's bred and had a third 1984 ATC 70. It is in rough shape and not running, but a little surgery will help that. I haven't decided a color scheme and engine combo yet so I'll just start with getting it running and it'll be a stock machine until next years bonus.

Makes me wanna build a nicer go fast 70. Prolly isnt gonna happen any time soon tho. I have 10 of em currently and 10-11 more bigger bikes to play with. That thig called a 350x is a MONEY pit !

I finished the third atc70. I decided on black and white for a paint scheme and went with an airbrushed skull for the gas tank. It still needs a set of plastics and maybe a 125 but it's running as a 70 for now.

Went from this (not running)

I got to go out with the family and friends. I was having so much fun that I didn't take any video but we had the 70's in a local parade. Then back at camp we rode them up and down the mountain several times. The 140 rips and is super fun. We got a lot of looks. There was a group coming down the mountain on their BW200's they gave us a smile and a nod which we returned. Unspoken, but said was we understand the fun your having on a classic bike.

Thanks Jerkin,

It snowed on the couple of days before Christmas so the kids got the 70's out. Hope you all had a great Christmas.

Here a youtube clip of them.

Love the white and blue color scheme. And the skull on the tank of the other looks amazing!
