I just purchased a 1981 Honda ATC 200 on Craiglist for 250$. The previous owner has had everything taken apart all the way down to the bare bone frame. The engine was in tact and running when he started the breakdown and all the parts are in good condition. I am looking to restore it and sell it. Any thoughts on how to modify it (engine performance/aesthetics) to make it more appealing to buyers and or modify it enough to make me keep it? Thanks for the help!!

Couple places sell a 200x kit for them. It's basically a hotter cam and a dome piston. Have a similar kit that came in my 185s. It's fast. Faster than I wanna go on a no suspension trike.

How many MPH are we talking? and do you know who sells them online? I will definitely have to look into that!

heres the wiseco catalog

i would not go 12.1

your cylinder may be worn . . if so you need to bore it out.

you can buy the pistons from several places . . below is another one.

heres some cams.

i would stick with the 340b cam or 389a cam . . you heed a header with the 389a cam . . if it does not have enough bottom end for you with the cam, you can try a one tooth smaller front sprocket or a bigger rear one . . you can also increase the bottom end power by advancing the cam up to 4 degrees . . if you want less bottom and more top end you can retard it up to 4 degrees . . verify with the mfg what cam will fit your bike and if they have an adjustable cam gear.

.
if you want a performance pipe, dg is one of the few people that make them . . if you ride in ohv parks or almost anywhere, you need an APPROVED spark arrestor, so decide what you need before you buy . . if you sell the bike you might be better off getting a pipe with a spark arrestor . . the spark arrestors reduce horsepower a little . . any pipe with a non stock silencer and no spark arrestor will be LOUD which can displease some neighbors.

if you get a piston and cam and pipe, i would get a carb that is around 2 mm bigger than stock . . the cheap chinese ones on ebay seem to work just fine, but make sure it will fit your bike.
