It is ok to soak a chain in gas overnight as long it is not an O-ring chain, right? My chain is non-o-ring. Thanks.

Should be fine,I would use diesel fuel or degreaser(which contains deisel)and clean it.Then go over it with some chain wax.

on a o-ring i would'nt use gas,i've heard of using kerosene on all types of chains, gas would dry the rubber o-rings.

If you're talking about a rusty, stuck chain... I would drop it in a bucket of used motor oil overnight, hang it up and wipe off oil, go over it with a hand drill w/ wire brush attatchment, give it a good coat of WD-40, wipe off excess (then use whatever chain oil you have to lube it with) and you're ready to go.

No! Your all doing it wrong :D
Put it in a pan with some oil and boil it up on a gas burner!
Best way.

I put mine in a shallow pan with tranny fluid. I let it soak for a couple days turning it over everyday. When it came out it was in great shape.
