Hope everyone's safe with the twisty weather.
I can't imagine the sky as the enemy.

Anyway, I'm out in the shop.
Kids watching some deadzombie something or other.

I see a gorgeous woman, blurred out nudity, but in the nexdt scene,
her girlfriend is depicted with , wait, think about this....
gorgeous cheerleader type , fully depicted with a machete through her skull.

NOthing was blurred during that scene.

Please help me understand.

Some other statistic that kids see 40,,000 acts of violence before first grade.
Cartoons ?

Can any of this bs really be true?

Thanks youse guys.

This really ain't no joke.

Wise cracks appreciated.

There might be a country song title or bumper sticker worth millions.

you can`t understand. There is no logic or reason to the amount of violence on tv.

there`s no logical explanation as to why some people believe violence is much less detrimental to Society than nudity or sexuality. Seems asinine to me.

I find it ironic that bugs bunny, the roadrunner, and tom and jerry were all taken off the airwaves "because vilonce"......and then promptly replaced animated fake violence with re-enacted and more accurate and sickening forms of violence and degradation.

your child cannot watch Wyle E Coyote try to drop a slab or launch an Acme rocket on the hapless roadrunner but at 6pm, they can see any number of shows glorifying violence, chopping off zombie heads, murders, rapes, huge gun battles waged with nary a concern for innocent bystanders. And if passive intake of violence is too square, there is no shortage of Medal of Honor: Slaughterhouse part four for your kids to entertain themselves.

Kids emulate what they see. Of course, anyone of a particular political party will try and tell you that gun violence is a result of gun availability whereas knife violence is merely a product of rage and bad coping skills....or it`s society`s fault.

Every school shooting is plastered all over the news to insure that every budding loser emo kid will have an instruction manual to carry out their own cry for infamy and attention.

Funny how when a kid commits suicide the schools go on high alert because of the prevalence for "copycat" acts of suicide yet they completely ignore the probability that the exact same thing happens with school shootings. Probably because they would have to take some of the blame for this themselves and because the War on Inanimate Objects would be relegated to the scrap heap of failed policies and ideology.

I won't go too far on this subject...It is disgraceful. Our kids aren't even allowed to watch spongebob. Kids LEARN disrespect, lack of empathy for others,,and SO much more on that "boob tube". Sickening.. I loosened up on the zombies at 17 or so with my Son,,and I think that was too young. And why would you WANT to watch it anyhow!? I simply lack understanding :)

What happened to all the real tv shows? Informative, unbiased, straight to the point tv? The last shows i saw that i really enjoyed was the Planet Earth series. Most if not all of it now is mindless, dramatized crap. Overly violent and sexualized for no reason. Even the wildlife shows are some type of reality show now. Unless i can watch a show and say that i learned something i didn't know before i turned it on, i wont have tv. Get rid of the reality tv, bring back the real TLC and History and Military and Discovery Channel. There are still people in this world that enjoy learning and seeing things that they otherwise wouldn't be able to see.

I must be the most boring person on the planet to some. No home computer, no TV. And i don't feel like I'm missing anything.

I used to have all kinds of fun digging holes in my back yard. Climbing a damn tree was awesome. There is so many ways our kids can have a good time that do not involve an electronic device. Old school activities are what these kids need. I bet if you grab 10 fifth grade boys from across the US give them all a BMX bike and tell them to ride a wheelie... 9 of them fail the task. That's a shame.

Let's face it, technology rules kids these days. I can't speak much because I'm in that generation. Kids can't be entertained as easily as they were 20, 30 years ago. I'm the black sheep, i enjoy working a job where I'm outside everyday, I enjoy just going for walks and enjoying nature, I don't sit at home on the play station all day like my brother. I'm also 100 pounds lighter too lol. I'm an active person who enjoys fishing for 10 hours, hunting from sun up to sun down, going riding, camping.

I watch my share of TV, not anymore because I don't have time with work, but even when I did I watched discovery channel and animal planet all day. Good informative shows.

The things that are on tv these days are just garbage. Drama. Stupid reality crap. I don't know about you but I don't give two craps about some teenager that got pregnant.

Once you realize who runs the media and who comes up with all of these programs, you'll understand why it's done the way it is. ;)

I understand completely. Seems like around 2000ish, TV stopped being just entertainment, and it started seeming like they were teaching us stuff behind the scenes. How to act, how to REACT, the way life is, the way life should be. Make the people feel important, like they are a part of something by watching these shows, give them something to look forward to, to get their minds off of what life really is. All part of the big plan.

I do listen to my shortwave radio sometimes. Hearing news from other countries really puts things in perspective.

TV has gotten horrible. I remember how horrified I was back when Silence of the Lambs came out. Now watching Criminal Minds I think that show
is just as bad at times as that movie was back in the 90s.... minus the nudity and F-bombs.

Have you seen The Following?

it`s about a cult.......of serial killers.....just the type of entertainment we need in our fair and civilized society. Murder Porn.

I hate Criminal Minds too, How to Get Away With Murder, and Law and Odor Special Vaginal Unit...especially the latter.

I want to meet the shortbus graduate who said "you know what kind of crime I think we need to really entertain people with every week? Rape, sodomy, and pedophilia! That would be so dramatic and entertaining. If anyone complains we can call them homophobes and claim we are raising awareness of the rape culture in the USA."

I want to meet him/her so I can give him/her an elbow smash to the eye socket followed by a swift kick in the jaw.....for every rape victim or molested child who didn't appreciate the "entertainment value" of being victimized.

You are a black sheep Ghost. How many kids your age would have came back from back surgery to work and make a honest living? I don't know you,but I'm proud of you. And it's disgusting I would even have to say that. It SHOULD go without saying! But not in The good ol USA anymore :(

Social media is gotten out of control. The things kids are doing at very young age is nuts.Parents don't keep track of their kids. They seem to find friends with parents who would rather be friends to their kids.So they all hang out at the cool parents.Take them all over and drop them off wherever.

I've highlighted a few that pertain to the issue at hand, along with a few others. I'm sure a lot of you will find some of the other points below quite interesting. ;)

But, alas, I'm sure this is just some vast right wing conspiracy with no legitimacy whatsoever.

[From "The Naked Communist," by Cleon Skousen 1963]

CURRENT COMMUNIST GOALS

1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.

3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.

4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.

6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.

7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.

8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev's promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.

9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.

10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.

11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the U.N. as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo.)

12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.

13. Do away with all loyalty oaths.

14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office.

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

18. Gain control of all student newspapers.

19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.

21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms."

23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. "Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art."

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy."

27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a "religious crutch."

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state."

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man."

31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the "big picture." Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture--education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.

36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business.

38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand [or treat].

39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use ["]united force["] to solve economic, political or social problems.

43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.

44. Internationalize the Panama Canal.

45. Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction [over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction] over nations and individuals alike.

Scooter, have you read Alinsky's Rules for Radicals yet? Its like an Obama playbook how eerily parallel. Of course he and Skousen were comrades.

Yup.

I believe you are thinking of Bill Ayers. Alinsky died in 72. But yea, Ayers was an Alinksy fan boy.

For those who aren't aware of Alinsky's Rules for Radicals:

1 “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.” Power is derived from 2 main sources – money and people. “Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood.
2 “Never go outside the expertise of your people.” It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone.
3 “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.” Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty.
4 “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules.
5 “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.
6 “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.” They’ll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They’re doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones.
7 “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.” Don’t become old news.
8 “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new.
9 “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist.
10 “If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive.” Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog.
11 “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.” Never let the enemy score points because you’re caught without a solution to the problem.
12 “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.

I didnt always feel like a prude.

I grew up on Carlin, Porky's, and Eddie Murphy Raw. I've seen Gene Simmons wife nekkid and Tawny Kitain ride a jaguar like a good little rocker slut.....but now I'm a grandparent and it's different now. Back then, the general public tried not to act trashy despite what they watched on TV. Today people go out of their way to act as trashy as TV has become and like TV, the more shocking the more the attention. The more the attention, the more it reinforces bad behavior.

I didn't believe in censorship because I thought all folks are intelligent and rational enough to know where to draw the line of decency....I was dead wrong about people being smart enough to behave with some class. Its the same reason so many other seemingly good ideas never work out like you expect them to. The ignorant ruin everything.

The only time i agree with showing that kind of stuff on the news sites is if the police killed some criminals. Little Timmy might think twice about knocking over the liquor store if he has flashbacks to his childhood and seeing robbers shot up on the news.
But as far as wrecks and crashes, that's not important to the story and should be kept out of public view out of respect for the families involved.
