Looks like a money pit, but some cools stuff there.

Ugly??? I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I thinks she's beautiful Lol. I don't know why he put red fork boots on it? And his chain has to be the most stretched out chain I've ever seen. But I really want one. I want a tecate with a kx500 motor too. I let a tecate that was all there except for the jug and all original slip through my fingers. The guy only wanted $300 but I was too late. It was gone. Next time gadget......next time.

It needs a ton of work, but could be cool.

The Jerry Hall, Halls Precision Racing motor & pipe is cool, he does great work.

The 1986 KX500 motor was not all that great, I would start with a 1989 and up.

I would prefer to start at the ground up. Thank You for sharing.

I saw this for sale on craigslist. Thought that was 85 motor? The head on 86 had fins? And intake hhas boost bottle pipe with a spark plug stuck in it?

The craigs ad also included extra pipe (pictured) and air box. Bought and now on ebay minus parts?

I agree about having a 89 and up motor. Having a Tecate doesn't need to much work to fit a 500. Lucky for us unlike the Honda guys.

Make room for spark plug
Make motor mounts
The rest is simple

I started with this and it was ugly as hell!!!

Money pit. That's an '85 motor...no KIPS valves.

Pipe really ain't worth a chit if it's broken in half.

The '86 motors were great motors....it's just that parts are getting scarce. '89 up would be the way to go.

I've got way more into mine then I'll ever get back out of it so I'm just keeping it. Maybe one day I'll even finish it and actually ride it! LOL
