They 90'd off the carburetor to a k&n filter and sock. The green piece in front of the filter looks like a guard or brace for the k&n. I like the look real well. Anyone familiar with this universal k&n set up? Link above.

Damn these things are fetching big money. I'm glad I got my 86 and 87 years ago when they maxed out at around 1600 bucks, and they were in good condition.
It's certainly a nice machine but I don't like the way they support the air filter with a cut shroud. Regarding the question above about the filter, I don't think it is a 90 degree K&N. I think they use the stock 90 degree elbow and just use the regular K&N filter for the Tecate.

Like....Id get it if it were a BONE stock 87 model that sat in a crate and was never ridden.... But that's not even close to stock really.... In fact its got alot of cool things think I might to to my riding machine.
Its a beautiful machine.
also seeing people selling the now available rear fenders on Ebay for ridiculous. on for $500 on it already.... Knowledge it power....

I have to say I'm glad to see the 7k price tag. Doesn't make me feel so stupid for what I have into my build which is probably over 5 k and I'm not done!
I've been looking for an 86/87 and they are just not available, if they are they are beat and need a total resto.

The bidding history is a little scary/suspect.
Check it out.

Very nice Tecate, but I'm with both Dimitris and ATC007 on how expensive it is. If it were 100% stock then it would be one thing.
I'm hoping to restore my machine once I'm finally in a house with an actual workshop :)
