Soooooo long story short, the threads on the end of my rear axle for the hub are bent. It actually looks as if the whole threaded section is bent. Tried "tapping"the axle out to replace the bearings with the nut on and all that did was collapse the cotter pin holes a little on One side and destroy the first few threads, as well as the nut. *sigh* can it be saved? I don't have an extra 100 bucks for an axle laying around right now. Thoughts?

You could always get a small thread file to clean them up a bit, as far as the bent issue, that's beyond my expertise.

If you redrill your cotterpin holes and rethread with a die you might get away with it. The bend seems more on the end of the castlenut. Not sure of the thread pitch but I used a die like this to fix an axle that looked alot like yours http://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Quality-M14-X-1-5-Metric-1-Hex-Cut-or-Rethd-Die-14MM-Carbon-Steel-RH-/221727247183?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item339ff94b4f and some locktite to be safe.

So at the recommendation of mothey and Dave I ordered a rethreading die and should have it tomorrow. The thread is m14x1.5 for anyone wondering. I should have that tomorrow. Last night I put the axle in a vise between 2 brass plates and straightened it out a little bit. Not perfect, but definitely better. I'll work on the threads tomorrow and will report back with the results! As always, thanks for the input guys.

Nice trike we had a yellow one, but I always liked the black model, the blue model was cool too.

Thanks! While I was waiting for the new bearings to come I went over the frame with some fresh paint and did the rims too while I was at it. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. Amusingly it's the same paint I used on my light pole out in the front yard a year ago I had left over [emoji14] I've seen pictures of the blue ones, they and the yellow look pretty sharp too.
