Did some work on the 250R build this weekend, polished the forks and triples. You can also see the new 10" front wheel from xowner.

Sure, this is my setup, a 6" bench grinder with a buffing wheel and a kit that came with different compounds. I found the green compound worked well for removing the factory finish and getting down to the aluminum. Then I went with red and then white compound, and just keep working it on the wheel until you find the finish you are looking for.

This was my first job using this setup and I will say this, it's a really dirty job lol, I was black by the time i was finished.

Very cool, I am not a polisher, but want to be...lol

Any brand you can recommend?

I have seen some stuff at harbor freight but it looked pretty scary.

I've used all different products for polishing and the harbor freight stuff is as good as any.

Just google metal polishing and you will find all kinds of helpful guides.

I just bought 6" bench grinder because it was on sale, but if you can, get an 8". The larger wheel will get the part you are working on further out from the grinder itself and it will be easier to move the piece around without hitting it.

And no need to get a big brand name machine, mine is just generic and it works great for home hobby use.

Thanks

I move on to refinishing the gas tank next. Pickup my new aftermarket shrouds and rear fender this weekend. I'll post new pics as I get more finished.

One of the last parts I need is a headlight, I really want to go with a 350X headlight but the ones on ebay right now are listed for big money!
