Looks like RTV type gasket "goo" on the head cover. I think he's saying the carb is brand new not the motor? But why cut the exhaust? Seems to be way too much wear on the hardware to be a take out. Not to mention wear on the case halves.

That's the way they all look. If you see one perfectly pirrttyy. Someones made it that way. These have been stored for 30 years now! Half of you aren't that old lol ! It's a good engine,just a little too proud of it IMHO.

Interesting, I have a 350X engine in my shop from Oscar Mayer that is supposed to be a take out, it has been ran but clearly has very little time on it.

The exhaust & intake ports are very, very clean, compression is very high.

The top head stay area has similar silver paint markings just like the pictures on that EBAY engine marked- "T99" on this one.

the motor I picked up a few years back had the exhaust cut also. the cuts were much cleaner than the ones pic'ed

the oil line on the one pictured is bent also. I bet the seller put a take out motor in a frame and is trying to make this one appear to be takeout. just my opinion

I have a new 350x engine it also has sealant around the valve cover. But a lot of these were donated to schools to take apart and put together if I remember correctly. so you have to be carful what you buy.

Out of all the ones I've bought. I only ever had one that was opened,and that was by the selling dealer. But you are right, they were intended to be tore apart...

The school I teach at has a couple 250SX take-out engines. They have been opened, MANY times over the years. They had a 250R engine too, but the kids pulled a Johnny Cash on it years ago, and it left "one piece at a time".
