I have just bought my first 3 wheeler Was cheap well it was in parts when i bought it any ways its a 1987 Honda ATC 125M. I have put it all back together (engine was all ready complete) and put the wiring harnes/Loom back on following a diagram i found now the bit that is baffling the hell out of me there is power to the started as when i bypass the solenoid it turns over. But when i turn the ignition on and push the button to start it there is nothing at all i have checked all the connections with a electric tester and there are no breaks and its earthed ok the reverse light comes on but its not in reverse. Please can some one help me

Neural safety switch . Make sure the motor is in neutral . The green light on the dash needs to be on for the starter to work .

Do you see BOTH the neutral and reverse sensor wires? Sounds like maybe the reverse wire is on the neutral sensor. That is where your troubles are at any rate.

Yes you have you cables backwards. Dont kick yourself to much it happens to all of us. even the one that have been working on these things for 30 years or better.

217519217520 here is the wires that come from the neutral/reverse lights they seem to be pluged in to the right wires on the loom then i have the other 2 that you see that are connected to the sensor in the casing but can not see were they go to on the diagram.

If the 2 wires from the case are not plugged In to the wiring harness then it will not start. Something is missing, the 2 sensors in the case must be plugged in.

Make sure that the wire you are plugging have the same colors and colored tape at the connections.

Right after getting a new loom and installing it using diagram and sorting the first problem i had now the next problem what would be the main cause of it not sparking

i would check the stator coils with an ohm meter and see if they are in spec.

what should they be reading at roughly

look on page 24 for the spark plug coil info and 25 for the other info.

sand the points if they are dirty.

check continuity between both contacts on the points when they are closed . . if there is none, they are bad.

might be a bad condenser also.

Ok, the only non factory CDI I am aware of is to use a Chinese one . . You can take your chance and try an ebay one or buy the one below . . Contact them for wiring instructions and correct adapter.
