This is my first post to this site. Hopefully it works!

This is my ATC 125R. It started as a 1986 200X. About 2 years ago I bent the axle. I had a spare TRX450R axle laying around, so I thought about putting it on the 200x. I bought a swingarm and the rest of the parts off eBay and started cutting up the frame. At the same time the forks needed rebuilding. So I thought since I was already doing the rear suspension, I might as well upgrade the front too. I found a 1985 front end setup also on eBay. I had to machine a spacer for the lower bearing to work (I used the 200x bearings). It stayed like that until last fall when I blew a head gasket. I thought it would be fun to have a 125 two stroke. I rebuilt the 125 using a Hot Rods crank assemble and Vertex piston. I also put Boyesen reeds in it. The reason I went with a 125 is because I had an 85 250R that was hopped up and it was just too much work to ride hard. I figured the 125 would be just right. It has about 10 HP more than the 200x and is a blast to ride. I tried to use all stock parts so I would always have spares. Other than the bearing chase for the front forks, a rubber tube for the air cleaner and the gear shifter, everything is available off the shelf. I even made the pipe and silence work without bending them. As far as the plastic goes, the rear fenders are from the 200x, the tank and shrouds are from the CR 125 and the front fender and headlight are from the 250R. It was a fun project.

X2 more pics. This is a trike Honda should have built back in the day. When they were testing and building 200 and 500rs . Awsome job building it.

Very nice! I'm curious though, how is it to start with the normal rearward-swinging kickstarter? I found a thread of a guy in Australia who built one, and he machined an adaptor to use a recoil on his.

I don't suppose you documented the build with pics?

Welcome. That's an absolutely badass trike build right there. 125 builds are a hot topic around here lately.

The kick starter is still rearward swinging. I cut the rear fenders to allow for it - see photo. Being a 125, it doesn't take too much of a kick to get it fired up, so it really isn't a problem. The only real problem is me wanting to forward kick it just like all my other ATCs I've owned!

I know a guy that smacks around 450's on a 125, even though he is a little big for it.

We start them by hand, wear a glove, it's actually very easy to start them 1-2 bumps.

I am doing a kx112 in a 200x right now. wanted a light bike to tool around on with my g/f. Light smaller cc bikes in the woods can be very fun and in fact i love 125's if you know how to ring them out right!

What gearing did you end up with?
