?????

" This machine was purchased in 1983 and ridden once. It was stored (without fuel) until 2015 when I purchased it from the original owner. It was covered with a sheet, locked in a storage room within a garage approx 40 miles from my home. It has never been washed or cleaned yet has no evidence of dirt, mud or grass having touched the underside. I have made no attempt to clean or start it although I did ensure the engine turns over freely and the machine has compression (I pushed down on the kick starter with my hand). There has been no restoration done on this machine - there is no paint work, no touchups, no replacement parts, nothing has been replaced. The plastics, decals, tires, etc are all the original factory supplied items and are in excellent condition. There is NO fading of the plastics and NO deterioration of rubber from sunlight as it has been stored inside since new. The original tires are in perfect shape with the nubs still in evidence. The seat is perfect and supple. The levers gauges exhaust and other fittings still have all of their factory applied coatings. This machine is immaculate and original in every detail. Not so much as a hose clamp, wire tie, or valve stem cap has been loosened or changed. I suspect it has the original air in the tires. I inspected the inside of the fuel tank and it is completely and utterly clean (pictured).

that first ride mustve been a long one. scope the wear on the shifter and brake pedal. Also looks like rubber chain slider for the swingarm skid plate is missing. I'd like to see the bottom of the skid plates. that would reveal alot.

otherwise, very very nice

Agreed. I think it was ridden a few times...Not sure on that chain slider. Mine were so brittle they just fell apart. 32 year old rubber parts.

Not to sound negative, but it sure does pay to sell a bike that is advertised as all original. I have doubts to the ridden one time story. Looks like that is worth a few grand more.

If the winning bidder actually pays for it I hope they don't expect it to go up in value....ever!! That's just crazy!!

Wow...I did a light restore on mine and I probably could not tell any WORTHWHILE difference between it and mine. Although mine is an '84.

I paid $1000.

If its original then everything needs to be replaced. I get preserving history but for 17k it should have been ridden by mart hart in a championship winning race

I'm just cheap I guess, showing my age. Next I'm going to complain about the price of milk.

Lol,, Milk is currently at 1973 Prices, wholesale at the farm :(... I come from a family of farmers lol. No, I just meant. There is not many places one can go and get a almost NEW ATC 250R. Yes, we can restore them, but they are only new once. There were things on that one I couldn't explain, and neither could the seller. He damn sure stumbled into a nice pot of cash. But then again. He has to get paid. It's all relative I think.
