I'm inheriting some antique furniture that was my great grandmothers. Does anyone on here know enough to date these for me? They need some love, but will be well worth the effort.

I'm thinking early 1900's

My guess would be that is depression era (1930 ish) , due to the crisp cut details, factory manufactured trim, and emblems as opposed to hand carved accents. Likely holds more sentimental value to YOU than anyone else. DO NOT PAINT OR REFINISH THIS FURNITURE... painting erases the item's age, charm, and originality. No expert here, but I get similar items by the truckload (not worth squat, but the market may shift), and I am far from wealthy. Clean the furniture with the least invasive materials possible. They are only original once... nice score!!!

That would be about right. Before my grandmother passed I think she said they were from the 20's.

They both need lots of cleaning and will never be painted as long as I own them. We're planning a new addition on my house and these will be in the formal dinning room.

So cool that this furniture will continue to live as is! True patina and provenance are priceless (imho).

Have a bit of a mooch on the net and try to find similar items with that moulding detail, its distinctive and machined stuff tended to be made in production runs unless by a small company.

There may be some better info on manufacturer, dates etc.

But I think you are probably somewhere near.

Either way I agree try not to mess wit them too much as they are nice and will only get older.
