What is the best piston for an auto x? Wanting power but reliable, cheaper is better, and where can I get the piston cheapest?! Also wondering what are some other cheap mods?

I went with a wiesco (SP?) 10.25:1 high compression in my recent Auto-200x build, you can pick then up for around $75 with rings online if you look long enough. Also be sure to at the very least have the cylinder honed if you are swapping pistons, and re-jet if going to a high compression. Also if you are in the motor already;swap in a Cam, you can find them for $20-$40 online as well (XR200 or XL200 or a webcam), and of course a new cam chain.

Yup. Great on trails and snow. Also great for people (me) that are not great at working a clutch

I looked into this years ago when i had a 84 200x and i remember the rear brake pedal wouldnt work with a 200s engine in a 1984 200x frame. I just wanted to mention that if you havent noticed it yet. Im not sure what year you are doing, maybe the 2nd gen 200x's are different.

Just have to use the right brake lever is all.

I personally would rather a clutch. However, descent 200s bottom ends can be had on a budget. And my atc is my beater compared to all my other toys. The xr200 cam in the 200s motor really wakes the engine up. The 200s also used a 7.8:1 compression piston(if original or built to original spec). A 200x piston is about 9:1.

I found (and own) a brand new 200x piston (Shindy brand) for 40 dollars new.
I decided to run the wiseco 12:1. It was cheaper due to less consumer interest. And I have no issue with race fuel blends

But, my suggestion would be a wiseco 10.25 CR piston(you might be able to find a piston kit with gasket and valve seals, proper honing, xr200r camshaft, inspect timing chain guides and a new chain. I think it'll wake the motor up plenty
