85 250 big red trouble

I swapped out heads on it because the valve seals were bad in the other one.But now it will only idle when you give it gas it dies. I've cleaned the carb an d checked everything and it seems to be good.don't know what else to do it.

I'm feeling like a #2 as well.

If everything worked fine before the head swap besides low compression, then something related to the process isn't right. Could be timing maybe? If you never had it running before (or for a long time) change the spark plug out with an OEM NGK type. If that doesn't do it, cleaning the carb a 2nd time might help, depends how well you cleaned it the first time. If it is dirty again, the inside of the gas tank is probably rusty.

Talking about the rusty tank, fuel delivery could be another issue with similar effects, more or less low float level. Might want to check the fuel flow out of the tank too.
