.
I liked a few of their songs and appreciated their music but was more into heavier rock . . They played at an outdoor venue in California in maybe the late 80' that wasn't far from a town of maybe 300 people where I lived and there was a camping park around 1 mile from my house which was filled with young and some old hippies and lots of vw busses etc for a few days before the event, so it seemed like our town was suddenly back in the 60's for a few days.

Alice Cooper lives in Arizona, and a few years back and was a dj on a radio station and would play really rare stuff . . He was also at the Barrett Jackson auction one year that I was there so I talked to him a little and he was very nice and "normal" . . Also saw Tim Allen there one year and one of my overly drunk friends chased him down while yelling his name name and talked him into taking a picture with him.

I saw the Dead 177 times, plus the last 3 shows in chicago, that part was easy since I live here.

No joke, the dead played 100 yards south of my back fence in '71?
oregon country fair . com
Some great shows over the years.

Like it or not, the #1 draw of live performances in history.

As many or more people in the parking lots than inside usually.

Lots of folks would just follow them around the country from show to show.

Wonder what the secret was.

Marty Robbins wrote 'El Paso' while driving across Texas panhandle,
with a station wagon full of kids. Nowhere near El Paso.

Anyone who can remember all those words deserves an award.
'Wake of the Flood' is quite a work of art and as intricate as any song ever
written.

One of my favorite backstage signs, NOT Dead specific:
"this music is a lot better than it sounds'

To young to have seen them with Jerry. I have been to a few Phil Lesh shows, and a number of "The Dead" come back shows in the early 2000's.

My sons like them .I don't, not my style of music. I think Cherry Garcia was a doosch (spelling) Now Led Zepplin has some cool songs.
