My current project 350x for this winter. So far it's stripped down and the frame and swingarm and other parts have been blasted and are ready to be powdercoated. For those of you famillar with ATV on demand this build will be very similar.

Pretty cool, really like seeing people restore these old machines no matter the brand, where did you come by the trike originally? Is it one you had or one you picked up for the build?

I found this trike on craigslist about 4 hours from my location. Well worth the drive.224276
The trike will look very close to this.

Do you plan on reinforcing the frame? You can buy a gusset kit from you or just make one. If you look on the pic that was posted by the rear of the frame you can see what I'm talking about. They are well worth it on any old frame. Especially the 350x frame.

Yeah i already have the gusset kit Ready to be installed. Then I will powder coat.

I'm also building the motor (top end) and clutch. Should be around 40hp or high 30's

Hate to be off topic, but I have heard in the past about the 350x frames not feeling so rigid. So gussets must be desired.

Any known weak points on early 200x frames? I have a roller I'm going to start re-conditioning

I'm not sure on the 200x, but yeah I'm installing a gusset kit to beef the frame up.

There is weak points on all atc frames, 83-85 200x has many. 86-87 frame is much better to start with. If you can find one, use it. There is still a few weak points but after gusseting it's solid as hell. Most 83-85 200x parts swap over with little mods.
The 83-85 motor isn't bolt on but there are other options. Just be creative.:naughty:

In general, gussets are usually better than mo gussets, however, if you don't plan to jump your bike or subject it to other high stresses, the gussets are usually unnecessary unless you bought your bike used and a previous owner beat the crap out of it, in which case a crack or complete break will be more likely even under light abuse.

SHOCK AND FORK REBUILDING AND UPGRADES

For anything from a simple oil change to complete rebuilding or revalving of your original shock or forks, Race Tec Suspension can do it all at very competitive prices . . Their labor cost to clean and rebuild most shocks is only $100.00.

They are one of the biggest and best suspension rebuilding and modification companies in the world, and through feedback gained from the many riders they sponsor and thousands of customers they have acquired in the 30 years since they opened their doors, they have accumulated a massive data base which they can review to further help them set your suspension up just right the first time . . They are also the inventors of the very popular Gold Valve Emulators, so no one knows how to tune this system better then they do.

They can fix most rebuildable shocks irregardles of brand or age, and their turn around time is usually less than 1 week which gets you back to annoying your neighbors or burning up your favorite trail or track in a very short time, so why take chances with anyone else whom may have far less knowledge and experience, and whom may also take up to 6 weeks or more to return your parts.

They also sell a book which explains how suspension works and it also offers setup tips etc . . It was written by RACE TECHS owner Paul Thede whom is also a certified mechanical design engineer.

Place you rear master cyl. in position and check to see if you can bolt up the break line. The gusset is usually in the way.

I love the way the header looks it's polished very smooth to the touch and fits good. It's a new header that hadn't been ran before I got it. The guy who does this work is Sam harkabusic super cool dude.

How did you get a hold of him? I've sent him half a dozen emails trying to get one for my X any suggestions?

Thanks for that. Did you use a 400ex slip on after the fact? What did you coat your triple trees and lower forks with? Looks nice.

It's a 400ex slip on that sam harkabusic also modified for me to fit my machine. He has this header on his 350x so all he has to do is take his muffler off and make which ever one you give him fit. I liked the hmf style and looks and it sounds good. He basically does custom fabrication. His work looks amazing it litterally fits and looks factory. The powder coat I used on the forks and tripples is "misty lava" from prismatic powders.

Last question (maybe) how do you like the taller seat foam from high flight? Doesn't make you feel your up above the tank ? Or just too high in general?

Looking great. Did you fab the gussets or buy from someone else? Thanks...I am trying to decide on a brand/supplier for gussets.

I like the desert foam more honestly. It gives it a more modern feel. More comfortable as well. Its probably not as ideal for racing but I just trail ride.

I bought the gusset kit from tpc trikes.
