200x shifting problem

Hi I'm new to this site and I recently purchased a 84 200x the guy didn't tell me much about it but I took it out for a ride the other day and it shifts fine in 1st,and 4th but 2nd gear it makes a grinding noise and spits oil out the top end and 3rd gear just drops here and there and 5th doesn't even engage just hours right into 4th was wondering if anyone could help me solve this problem and tell me what I need to do to fix it thank you in advance

With all those issues I would just source a good used 1985 tranny and shift forks .
Sounds like yours has bad shift forks which compromised all the gears .
Btw 85 was the best year for the tranny .

X2...shift forks are toast. Willing to bet 3rd gear is gone as well. Time to crack her open and diagnose.

Yea that's what I figured does anyone know how much a tranny kit and shift forks cost for a 85 by chance? Thank you for all the help I really appreciate it

right now on ebay there is an 85 200x tranny for $100 + shipping, and the shifting forks are $20-$50 depending on the year.

Ive got a box full of 200x gears and tranny parts. If you want to pm me a picture of the bad ones and the tooth counts once you get it opened up, I might have what you need. Bill make you a helluva deal.

My 200x also has a problem shifting from 1st to 2nd. I'm thinking the shift star is warn in the selector. Is this somthing I have to find off another machine or can I get it new anywhere?
