I recently acquired a 85 atc125m. The front forks have extensions on them that I do not see on other 125's. They basically extend the front tire. Do any of you have these? What was the main purpose? Bigger tire I suppose. I am not sure how to attach a picture to this thread. I have a picture of it in my profile.

I have a few sets with one pair actually on a 110. As far as I know they are mostly for looks. I could see them as a way to keep the front end down by putting the tire further out as a counter weight but someone with a bit more knowledge on the old school stuff like that might chime in.

Not 100% sure but I think these were also used as quick fix's for bent forks. I say this because I have had 15 - 20 sets over the years and almost every machine that had them had bent forks. Bent forks cause the tire to pushed back and these moved the tire back forward.

Anyone have the ad for these out of a old magazine? I have the magazines but they are in storage and not accessible.

Handling and makes the trike turn a lot more better. And is used for look to. Have a set on my 185s turns and handles a lot better than one without the fork extenders.

My 125m had them when I got it and I immediately took them off. It handled horribly!!! Put a new tire on it at the same time and it felt much better afterward. It could have been a crappy tire though.

I am going to leave them on. The bike handles really well.
