I am restoring a 1985 Yamaha 200 ERN. The front tire that should fit this is a 25x12-9. This tire rubs the forks and just won't fit. I was hoping someone on this site has this same atv and was willing to share some pics of their front tire and rim and forks so I can see what I am doing wrong. Thanks for any help you can provide.

How much air pressure do you have in the tire? Maybe you can post a pic of your issue.

tried different air pressures but the tire is just too wide. It runs the forks no matter what. It's just wired that the rim and tire that the oem parts diagram call for doesn't actually fit. What will fit is the smaller rim and tire off of a Yamaha 200N. It is am inch narrower and 3" shorter and it mounts to a smaller rim. I don't want to mount that set up though because that will leave me with a 22" tall tire in the front and 25" tires on the back.

What brand and name of tire is it? It should be ok. I'll get a few pictures tomorrow if I remember it.

Not sure if the brand but I will check today and post some pics. Any pictures you could provide would be awesome. I'm wondering if maybe the triple clamps are for a different trike. That would explain why the tire rubs the forks. i think I could solve this mystery if someone had the same model and was willing to post some good pics. Thanks for your help.

You can see the difference in tire sizes. Notice the 225 Yamaha on the far left and the 250es next to it. Both tires are 25x12-9, It all depends on the air pressure and the shape of the tire.

You could have the triples off of a 225 or a chain driven 200, That might be your problem.

Thanks for those pics. Can you tell me or send me a pic of the hub as well so I can verify I have the right one? I'm thinking maybe I just need to look for another tire. Anyone have one to sell! A 25x12-9? I'm gonna post some pics of my dilemma later tonight. Thanks again for the assistance and the pics.

Thanks for the pics of the hub. That's the same one I have. Would you mind giving me a measurement of the front forks? I am showing 11 3/4 from inside to inside if I measure from the top closest to the triple clamps. Ive attached a pic.

I have a feeling you have a set of triples off of a dx, or chain driven 200. They will bolt right up on the frame, on a side note I actually prefer the 22" tires to the 25 as the turn better for me, but if you are going to do 22, do 22 all the way around as it will sit high in the rear otherwise. I used to know the difference in widths between the two styles of triples, but I cant remember anymore. after looking at you pick with the tape measure I am almost certain you have the narrower triples, which means you will have to use the 22" tires and rim, but there is a chance you can tube the 25" front tire and in doing that it will force the center of the tire to go bigger and narrow it to be able to use it.

Yeah that's your problem. You have the triples from a 225 or chain 200. The 200e is 13.5 inside to inside.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to Ebay right now to see if I can order the right triple clamps. Wish me luck.

if you do get other triples you will need different spacers as well as they are longer.
