Tackled re-covering my seat this morning before work. May not be a Moshman Masterpiece, but it came out pretty good IMO. No wrinkles, and only cost me $12 bucks. (Plus $40 for a donor seat with good pan and foam) Tools included hair dryer(a MUST), arrow manual stapler, razor knife, scissors, flathead screwdriver, 8mm staples, and quite a few cigarettes. What do yall think? I'll also be doing the stenciling. I cut the emblems off the original junk cover and plan on tracing them and making a stencil. What do ya'll think?229101229102229103

Ok so my 200x build has bern a little stalled out lately due to being extremely busy w 70 hr work weeks. Today i got around to stenciling the 200X on the side of the seats. I did it by making my own stencils out of the old trashed cover, then tracing paper and lines cleaned up, then stuck that to some double sided tape and cut out the lettering with a razor knife. I know they make stencils for it but this required 0 shipping and waiting or cost plus im more of a diy'er, plus i already had everything i needed to do it so it only cost me about an hour of my time. I think it came out pretty good, although one small spot on one of the X's pulled up a little. But i can touch it up if necessary. Heres a few pics.
Old seat lettering cut out 232010
Traced logos on double side tape 232011
The now double side sticky Stencil applied on one side232012
And the other 232013
Right side finished 232014
Left side finished 232015
So its by no means "restoration quality" but for a restomod rider trike it came out pretty good and im happy with it. The HONDA on the back i also made a stencil for but its a pain to cut out all the tiny corners so thats on hold. I may just order the stencil for that. Anyways thanks for looking.

Looks good. I'm sure all the work you've done will pay off.

Btw. You got the same picture bug I've got!

Man it drives me crazy! I try holding the camera different directions and everything, sometimes theyre upright, sometimes theyre not. And its only here on 3WW. If you click all the way into the pic it flips over

^^^^^^ That is a link to my build. And a white R fender and holeshots are actually EXACTLY the plan haha. Good call Yaeger. Those are just roll around rims and tires, i have brand new 8x8 3+5 polished wheels that i habe yet to get mounted, and i just threw the oem fender back on for the time being. Its a running riding trike at the moment. Build has been on hold for a bit but will be getting back to it soon. White R fender, holeshots, new levers, decals, Maier shrouds and SS brake lines are coming soon. It has beenCOMPLETELY torn down and rebuilt. Motor included. Top and bottom end 100%

If you want a perfect finish logo on your newly covered seat, I did mine with Silhouette CAMEO Smooth Heat Transfer vinyl .... you just cut out the logo and letters using a vinyl cutting machine and iron it on ...

I am also recovering my 1984 200X seat, but i cannot get the staples to grab into the seat plastic, best i can get is for the staple to grab in about 1mm-2mm, but it will not seat down level with the plastic. Its a heavy duty staple gun. Any hints on how to get the staples to seat, or alternate methods of attaching the cover to the seat, ....help

I used a $15 arrow staple gun when i did mine. 8mm staples i believe. Just gotta hold the stapler stapling side down FIRM against the seat pan, and seat pan firm against your work bench/table

http://m.homedepot.com/p/Arrow-Fastener-T50-Heavy-Duty-Staple-Gun-T50/100021099 This is the stapler i used. So obviously doesnt have to be anything fancy. Although an air powered stapler im sure is much better. I had the same trouble as you for some staples. Just gotta pull em out and try again.
