I recently used plastic renew with some good results. It took a lot of sanding and I used Rustoleum plastic clearcoat after I was done for some extra protection.

Procedure consists wet sanding all of the scratches out of the plastic with sandpaper. Grit used will vary on depth of scratches. For these I used 80,180, and finished with 400 grit. Then wipe on the plastic renew with a shop towel (multiple coats). Then I spray on the clearcoat for plastic. I have redone plastics that have looked good for years. I think the key is the clearcoat. Note that not powerwashing the plastics and exposing them to a lot of sun helps keep them in good shape.

I just bought brand new fiberglass fenders from the US and will have them in a day or so. They were $155US but by the time I got them over the border and with shipping they ended up being $335 Canadian. 1984 Big Red. I'll post pics when Im done.

Heat gun method also works well, i just restored my 200X gaurds using it. Careful the flex in the plastic doesnt crack the clearcoat, its more for non flexing surfaces, but that depends on paint type, thats why i didnt use it, if you had sucess using clearcoat, let me know .
