Hey all getting time to get some new sprockets, but I have a couple questions before I buy. As of now I have stock gearing on my X. I am running 20in tires and will be going to an 18in. I am looking for more topend than what I have now. Will be going back and forth on tires, so what would you fellow trikers suggest.

the only time I will be easy is when I'm killed by death

Change out the front sprocket for one with 1 or 2 teeth more. That should probably get you where you want to be, with the added benefit of less wear (smaller sprockets wear faster) and it's cheaper than changing the rear.

Gen rule is every 1" tire size change = 4 teeth rear sprocket differance. Every 1 tooth on the front = 3 rear teeth.
More teeth on the rear = more grunt, less top end
More teeth on front = more top less grunt.
I am running a 30 rear with 11 front (200e Auto-X) with 18 inch tire = very near stock overall. That should give you an idea.
