Looking for some help with my 250r

I'm new to this site and own an 86 250r for few years now it has always ran great (haven't touched the motor) ! Today was giving a once over before I took it for a ride and my coolant tank was at the proper level but was black not milky bit black. It was fine the other day when I checked it out. Anyone ever experience this??? Any info is appreciated!

Black coolant often is from a head gasket leak. I would say to verify you can check the oil for any white or milkyness. That's about all I know. Good luck though!
