Hello everyone,

I have a quick question. Does anyone know what the ignition coil on a 1980 ATC 110 is supposed to look like? Does it use the same ignition coil as a 1981 ATC 110 that looks like this (http://www.amazon.com/Ignition-Honda-ATC110-Wheeler-Trike/dp/B00O0G83CC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462198242&sr=8-1&keywords=atc+110+ignition+coil), or does it use the same ignition coil that the ATC 70 uses that look like this (http://www.amazon.com/Caltric-IGNITION-Honda-ATC-70-1978-1985/dp/B00SFS947E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1462198326&sr=8-2&keywords=atc+70+ignition+coil)?

I have an old beat up 1980 ATC 110 that is having trouble running, and I suspect that it is the ignition coil. All of the coils I find when I search for an ATC 110 ignition coil look like the first type, but the type that I have on there right now is the ATC 70 type. That said, I can't depend on my bike being stock because somebody has done some "improvised" wiring and such, so I don't know if I have the wrong coil on there now and maybe that's why it's working so poorly or if this is the correct coil.

Thanks.

Edit: And does anyone know where I can get an ignition coil that will work. If the one I need is the ATC 70 style (I'm starting to suspect that it is), then there doesn't seem to be many places that I can find them. I've found some on Amazon, but they all seem to have 1 star reviews saying that they don't work.

79-80 atc110 use an odd coil with the condenser as part of the coil , try eBay for a replacement .
81 is cdi and totally different .

you can always check the resistance with a ohms meter. if you have a clymers book for your bike.

It turns out that the '81 coil is definitely the wrong coill, but that the coil wasn't my problem anyway. Thanks for the info, though. They seem to be kind of hard to find for this year, so I might look into getting one anyway to keep as a spare.
