I have been lucky enough lately to find some 250sx's and a couple 250 big reds. I'm trying to find out how hard it is to restore and how expensive. I know this is pretty broad early on but just would like to know what I'm getting into. If there are any detailed threads or videos please let me know thanks

Pics should be under the "manage attachments" button in the "go advanced" page.

Anyway, there are several ways to restore, some people restore to a nice rider, others go for basically new looking, but don't mind aftermarket parts, then there is the most extreme and highest cost a full oem restore with NOS (new old stock) parts. The rider route could be as cheap as some paint and fix any problems with the machine(s).

I spent 5K on my restoration, showroom condition, all NOS OEM, except rear bearing and seals, tires, and muffler. Used Muskeet for muffler as it looks like OEM, and KENDA scorpion for tires which closely resemble OEM. Had OEM tires with 50% thread left but didn't want to put that much in on build and have used tires. Took Best Bike @ show with it this weekend, beating out a bunch of Harley's.

Depends on what your definition of '' RESTORE '' is .... Do you plan on all new everything or just cleaning up what you have ?

I did a "resto" on an SX (see my sig line), and used as many NOS parts as I could find. I scoured the country, finding the parts I needed at Honda dealers, and then had them shipped to me. What I couldn't find NOS I was able to find used, and most needed a major cleanup. In the end did I spend more than the trike is worth, probably, but the project was a blast.

Post up some pics, so we can all see what your working with....
