1983 atc 250 build

Hello! Just picked up a 83 250r not to terrible of condition, needs a piston but I've decided to take it fully apart and redo everything👍🏻 this will be my first time doing this so I'm starting this thread for others to follow and hopefully help with all the problems I'll likely encounter lol anyways here are pictures of it, managed to get the frame almost stripped in a day so I'm happy with that 👍🏻👍🏻

How do I remove the swing arm from the axle??

Welcome to 3ww! You will need the service manual for that R for a lot of the jobs you have in store. You should be able to find it here:
http://www.oscarmayer.net/atc/manuals/

Getting the axle out of the swingarm is one of the toughest jobs that you will have with your build (the other is getting the pivot bolt out of your swinger). Follow the manual and you should be fine, but it will likely take a LOT of heat and a really BFH to get those two removed.

Also just picked up a 85 125m, been sitting in my neighbors bush for about 6 years but is in pretty good shape���� a good cleaning and it should be looking and running like it did 30 years ago����������������

I have been waiting for a 2nd gen 250r build!! How do I subscribe to a thread? I'm going to do the top end on mine pretty soon I'm nervous about it now after all the crazy post on here lol. Looks like you started off with a pretty good one. I'm excited lol

Seems to be more air cooled builds popping up. Im going to go pick up my second 1982 250R this weekend.

Then I have the first one I bought but it needs a lot more work.
I'll be following and cant wait to see the progress bud.

You have a sprcific direction your going with it? Mx, woods, etc? Or you just bringing it back to life?
