how to remove 86 big red 250 rear axle with a welded hub

hello all,

trying to do the wheel bearings on my 86 big red 250 and of course i took the brake side apart first, hub off ready to go. went to do the other side only to find the hub welded on... wondering how the axle comes out? a video i seen on youtube showed it sliding out through the brake side? can it slide out from the opposite side too? is there anyway to get it out with it welded?
