Hi!

I´m working on my ATC 1984 125M model and i have question about cylinder head "collars" that are apparently missing from my 3 wheeler?

http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Honda/ATV/1984/ATC125M+A/CYLINDER+HEAD+CYLINDER/parts.html

They are showing in above link, part number 13, COLLAR 91502-968-000.

They are missing also from my spare 125M (also 1984) model... are they mandatory or what?

It´s hard to find new ones... so i´m hoping that i´m not needing those...

anyone familiar with 125M engine... please help me!

Thanks guys!

Crap...

That sucks!

If you had a set of those you could get new ones made at the machine shop easy and for a good price likely. That is not the case though obviously..

You can still get number 15 (the dowels) from Honda.

Number 12 seems to be a 7.5mm rubber gasket that could be fabricated or purchased at a large hardware store.

As for poor number 13....

I am not sure exactly what those are?

Hi!

Thanks for answer!

yes, i have all other parts... just two of those "collars" missing... is it just for keeping o-ring in Place / helping with installation... ?

I'm also missing these parts, I think they are the reason my bike still smokes after rebuilding the top end without them. If they are missing on both of your 84 models I'm wondering if they were ever there and if they do anything. I hope you can figure that out as the smoke is aggravating and I'd like to track down the problem elsewhere if it's not those pieces.

You think an engineer at Honda was like "here, let's throw some unneccessary extra parts into this engine."?

You guys need to install those dowels and the o-ring.

I´m not talking about dowel pins... These "collars" does not exist none of my 3 spare engines... and also i´m unable to find reason to get those collars.
There are many mistakes in ATC 125 M 1984 spare part pictures/service manual... maybe there are different type of cylinder heads etc... ?

Like i.e i do NOT have intake valve seal on my trike, there´s no place for it... only in exhaust valve, but parts catalogs say that there are two of them.
On my another engine, i do have two valves seals... so there are some differences between productions months/years...

I just finished overhauling a 1984 125m.(Last week) I also had a parts machine. Both had those collars. Very easy to lose, one fell on the floor and rolled clear across my gargage. I lost the others in the parts washer. Took me forever to find them. When I put them in they held those rubber gaskets in nice and tight. I would agree with vforcebrant above that it will probably smoke without them.

Ok, thanks for the info, mine is working ok without them, no smoke at all... but i agree => they supposed to be there :) btw, little hard to get that parts, maybe that´s the reason that they are missing...

Btw, what is model ATC 125MF? in this picture, there is no collars... some kind of special model? http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-atc125mf_model48600/partslist/0032.html#results

Hey, I found those collars during my tear down. They are tiny little dowels. I can give you dimensions and photos if you want.

From what i can tell, i believe they are for alignment more than anything else. It appears the oil channel to the head doesn't use them as a seal or anything.

Hi! yes please :) i believe too that they are only for aligment... but who knows.

According to the last pic, your caliper needs a new battery.

Naw. Battery is good. Viewing angle of screen made it a bit dim.
