Ello All!

I wanted to make a thread to introduce myself and shed some light on my upcoming project!

I moved from my home state of California to Utah about 10 years ago and unfortunately had to leave behind my 81' 250. Recently some family decided to take a drive down and surprised me by bring my beloved bike!!

She's not in the best shape so I'm starting to get things together I'll need to get her up and running then I can start tricking it out!

I am not a forum newb so I will abuse the hell out of that search button but I would love some help if you have it or recently saw a thread that might help!

Right now I'm currently looking for:
-Brake fluid (I'm not sure what to go with so any help is much appreciated)
-Shifter lever (Mine is completely stripped. I will try to remove and dig the teeth a little deeper or maybe put a pin through it, thoughts?)
-Spark plug (suggestions welcomed)
-Rings (this will be a little later down the road but I know I'll need to replace soon)

Any help pointing me in the direction of OEM/Aftermarket parts is much MUCH appreciated!!!

And on to the pictures....

Nice trike! I had an 82 back in the day...

Is that a Works Performance shock on the back?

If you don't have one yet, a manual (http://www.oscarmayer.net/atc/manuals/)answers a few of your questions.

Spark Plug = the universal 2-stroke NGK B8ES (2411). Buy a box of them and keep a spare on the trike with a plug wrench (trust me - it sucks to foul one in the middle of nowhere with no wrench...) and a few in the tool box.

Brake fluid = any DOT 3 or 4 (or 3&4) on the shelf at your local auto parts store.

Is your shifter stripped or the shaft? I don't think you can get either one new and I don't have any recent AirFooler experience but these guys do (http://airfoolers.com/) and maybe there's a solution?

I had an 85 Tecate with a stripped shift lever and at the time no aftermarket replacements. They're also a weird shape. I was able to cut off the splined part and weld on the splined part from an aftermarket shifter for another model. Maybe something similar can be done?

Have fun!

Thank you so much for all the help! I really appreciate it! It's wonderful to see that there is still some trike love in the world!!

I love this bike but I wish I could have my 86' 250R back!

Either way, thank you again. I'll start where you pointed me and hope for the best!

I'm not sure where to start a 'build thread' but I guess I'll just put my progress in here for the moment.

Slowly starting to take things apart and prep them to get her back up and running.

@jb2wheels I'm not sure of the shock, I've attached some pictures.

Also looking for recommendation on your favorite fluids (Trans, Fuel, Brake, etc.)

Thanks for this! I finally had a moment to work on the bike and looks like the shifter if completely fine but my shifter lever is basically a round circle! Hahah almost no teeth at all on the lever.
