Heres my story, 1984 i worked my butt off with my dad all summer he said before school started we would look at buying a atc. We did, the salesman talked my dad into getting an ALT 185. I wanted the racier looking ones but that wasnt gonna happen. During that year i flipped once and im sure ran over my leg 1/2 dozen times. Well about two years later dad brought me to Honda dealer by surprize and took home a 1987 Honda 200x. I sold three years later. Regretted it ever since. Meanwhile got married, house, kids. In 2007 i started buying late model 200x's and parts for them. Still have alt 185 outback hasent been started in 2-years though. I know u guys love pics so you will get some, my bikes are not restored, just gone through and cleaned up. I have a couple small questions/advice i need on a projed started 1-year ago. Its a 1986 honda 200x with trx200x motor. (Really only rear brake pedal placement) very tight fit... Any way thats my story. Ill post some pics when kids go to bed. Ill probably start a thread on trx build on different page.

Thanks redsox, its coming together nicely, only about ten issues overcome. Kind of followed that super x build but a few changes, i didnt want to cut engine block on this motor so new mounts were made and or welded. Ill start a different thread prob monday no later. Oh heres my( sons) yt60233866. Sorry for crooked pics, ill work on that, anyone know a easy fix, wish there was a rotate pic button here.

Heres my sons bike,he tore ALL apart then put back together w/help. He chose colors etc. no rattle can used on my/our bikes. Fenders for x-mas- tires from grandparents (dads parts pile) no helmet hes just posing did learn clutch very quickly, i made him learn on moms square when she wasnt looking....233867. He still rides on private land due to the states rules, he is just to tall to ride anything smaller

I had a very nice stock ALT185 that I REALLY wanted to convert to full suspension. I sold it to a bit of a collector and he was very glad I'd left it stock.

Yes, quite possible on the steering stop purchase. Far as i know I am the only fella making them.
Someday I will ride a 86/87 200X. And I predict I will be looking for one shortly afterwards :)

The alt definety kept me out of trouble when younger. There was nothing better back then than cruising through woods from train tracks(scary) to powerlines, ice cream stand and gas staition( we had it made) i try to tell my son stories and he gets so upset that he cant do those things today. Its under overhang behind house, dont want to tarp it in fear of rust

Thank you, 83atc ... Theres so many really nice bikes on this site. Those 450 conversions are growing on me big time, they look so nice!! Maybe next time. I started thread in new member section for the green framed one. Its unbelivable how many little parts/pieces are in these bikes.

Any good riding places near you? I mostly ride my own property, and theres probably about 100 acres of trails across the street from me. No idea where to find a sand pit anymore, all the ones from back in the day gave become housing developments or are not rider friendly.

Ytz drew, not so much riding here my family owns about 40acres theres about 4mile loop and side trails but some of it is state forest but our trail entrance is the only way in really. Im pushing the wife to go to mount washington next year when they open the road to bikes, my sons are 11/13 so not legal to ride else where. But soon......the sand pits (2) within 1/2 mile of me are all houses now.
