I tried commenting on another thread but apparently I don't have access yet.

Anyway, I have a 1986 big red 250es that the right rear hub splines are worn bad. I can't find a replacement anywhere besides other used ones off of eBay. Anybody know of one off of another bike that would fit? Thanks

From partzilla.com

Part # 42600-HA8-680 R.R. Hub

1986 ATC250ES A REAR WHEEL 86,87
1986 TRX250 A REAR WHEEL
1987 ATC250ES A REAR WHEEL 86,87
1987 TRX250 A REAR WHEEL

I also think that the 250sx of the same year will work. Not positive. Maybe someone else can chime in with details.

Just be sure that it's the hub and not the axle. When you reassemble always use marine grease and lube the splines to protect them. Do this to both sides... Dry hubs strip out easier.

That is correct, 86-87 only. 85 back do not work, nor do 300's.

I'm 100% sure it's the hub and not the axle. The axle splines still have the flats on the top, hub splines are worn and sharp on the tips of the splines.

Well I finally put it a little together using a jb weld type putty to fill in the spaces. We'll see how it holds up.

Well I figured that was a better idea than buying a $100 used hub that could be just as bad as mine and WAY better than some people suggested, welding it to the axle!! I'm pretty sure there was enough grease on the axle splines that it won't stick to it if I ever find the right part or whatever happens.
