Hey all, picked up my first trike last month and finally got some work done on it. Got it for $200. After getting it home I was able to really dig into it and see what it needed. Got it running after a good carb cleaning and some fresh gas. Spent the last month or so saving up and ordering parts. So far I've gotten: Rear brake drum, rear brake shoes, brake actuating lever, front brake handle, pull start teeth. Needs: 3 tires, both hand brake cables, light fixed, decompression parts for pull start (have been starting it by pulling decompression cable with my other hand haha). Over all, should be a good project. I'll post pictures soon.

Some pictures when i first got it back. I've since repainted all the black over, and soon to do the red. I'll remove all decals and replace some time later on.

Thank you for the offer, but I've got my mind pretty set on getting a set of ITP Mud Lite AT's. Hopefully getting them this week. :)

I've been happy with the performance of the itp mud lites. They look great too.

Cool, I put 26x11x12 ITP blackwater evolution on mine. So far I like them.

martin.tyrel, i saw your thread of the trike, it looks amazing with that wheel/tire combo. X-rider, Glad to hear another positive review of the mud lites! Definitely looking forward to actually riding this thing.

Can't wait to see your mud lites mounted!

Looks like you got a pretty decent 85'. Those are the OEM tires on it still.

Not to discourage you or anything but depending on the riding you plan on doing you will hate the big heavy mud tires. The OEM tires were designed to be low ply low pressure to help take up the impacts since there is no suspension. If you put on big thick mud tires your going to feel every single bump and you won't be able to ride it for long trips. My advice, get some 2 ply cheap knobbies tires, as close to OEM as possible. Again, depends on what your plans are for this machine though.

Awesome. I learned to ride on the 1986 200S.

I'll Get pics up once I get the tires mounted for sure. And no discouragement at all, I figured the ride would be rather harsh with the 6ply mud lites, but the durability and traction improvements I'm hoping will be worth it. And it's actually a 1984 (not that it really matters lol). Thank you all for your support and input!

Tank decals are 85'. What's the shift pattern? Up shift is 85', downshift is 84'.

Frame sticker says 1984. Idk the pattern. Haven't ridden it yet. So are you saying down is the next numerically higher gear? Instead of up being higher?

The sticker on the frame says when it was built, not the model year. There is a stamped vin on the neck. The tenth digit is a code to the year. Post the tenth digit.

Regarding the gear pattern of ATC200S's - 1984 was a down shift model. 1985 and 1986 were both up shift patterns

If the tank and frame are different years - might wanna check the motor number - many other motors fit into these bikes - like ATC200, ATC185, ATC185S

They do say the model year. And right next to it it will say the production date.

Ya I suppose it does but those stickers count for nothing relative to the vin.

Officially got my tires in! Dismounted the old ones and cleaned the rims. One had some nasty hardened bead sealer of something in it and it was horrible to clean and smelled like sewage haha. Should be painting the rims soon (has been raining the last few days) and I'll get the tires mounted up. Should be riding by next weekend!

I'll check that production date soon. The trike is at my friends place like 30 mins away (sadly I live in an apartment complex and have no space for toys:( ). Should be there monday night for a few.

Some pics of the progress before tires were all mounted. Re-painted the frame and just about everything else that was black. Made a huge difference in overall appearance. 235508235509235510
