1986 atc250r comparable exhausts

Does anyone know what other model and year mufflers will fit on a 1986 Honda atc 250r that will quiet down the exhaust. It doesn't have to be a Honda muffler or even a trike muffler. Has anyone used a different exhaust and been successful? I have a welder and could make mounts and pipe bends.but not sure what muffler to look at.

If you're willing to modify, an 86-89 TRX250R silencer would be a good fit, and probably require the least amount of modifications.

Is the trx exhaust quieter then the atc they look almost the same?

In the battle for quietest spark arrestor, I would say stock TRX vs. stock ATC is a tie. You won't find anything much quieter than the stock exhaust system. When you said you were looking for a quieter muffler, I assumed yours was not stock.

Yea i have an aftermarket fmf pipe.

Fitting a stock silencer/spark arrestor to your FMF pipe will quiet the exhaust note down quite a bit. The FMF expansion chamber itself, is a bit noisier than stock as well, as it's made out of a thinner gauge steel.

You could also try repacking your old silencer as well the packing is cheap and good tight repacking will quiet it down alot
