1919 browning built by John Mcguire
22 conversion, 1.5 yrs in making by belt-fed-plus aka Thomas Heim
Bolt conversion to semi auto again by Mcguire

4hrs of fun today learning my way around this thing. Still a bit to do. It needs the power of minimags to run via recoil. I had a few blown case heads. I need to lighten the firing pin spring as it is piercing the cases at times. You can see this in the comparison shot. It really dents the heck out of the rim

How the belt feed works. There are adapters, clips at end of each pair of adapters, dummy cases that then fit into spring adapters in belt

Blown vs not, heavy impact though

That's cool, but I never seen a .22lr conversion. May I ask why? Aside from the cost to operate, I don't see why you would want to.

Or so you don't annoy the neighbors.

500 rounds of 308 is a pita to be reloading all the time just to make noise. I prefer to reload slow for accuracy (not necessary in this gun.)Next would be to buy bulk but that would still be a bunch more than a brick of 22s at 50$

The conversion also requires a custom bolt and barrel with a bunch of parts to get it to work. It costs more than the gun

Now that is awesome! Dumb Canadian question, is it full auto? Can I borrow it for a pedestal mount for my 1952 Army Jeep? I've got the go ahead from my better half to mount a replica/de-commissioned one in my jeep for shows.

not full auto, converted to semi (gun and the new 22 bolt) along with the old 308 bolt

I'm jealous. Will you marry me?

I'd prefer the original caliber, but if it's easily convertible between the two, even better!

First, regarding marriage, wrong plumbing. But I appreciate the offer ;)
Second, easy convert, maybe 3 minutes?
I am gonna try polishing the bolt and guide ways to reduce friction. I'm not sure if I should lube w oil or something dry to keep it going and not gum up.

"To lube, or not to lube", that is the question...............:wondering Oh were still talking guns, got distracted for a moment, sorry. The problem with .22's is that they're a dirty round to start with. Today's teflon based gun oils (miltary spec) may give you what you want and hold the powder residue in suspension without gumming; can't hurt to try anyways. Brake clean can get you back to clean and dry in no time if it doesn't work.

My uncle is a die hard machine gunner. Guy has never been married and makes good money. He has quite the safe. Some of the most fun I've had in a while is when his buddies came over to shoot. Guy pulled out the 50 bmg belt fed! What an experience.

Sweet plinker man!

3 minutes to convert the gun, or 3 minutes to convert the plumbing? :wondering. :naughty: :beer
