i'm looking to buy a quad, and i can't afford the new yamaha 450 so i was thinking a warrior(i want a 4 stroke), but maybe a 400 ex. i ride trails alot but i also like to haul butt, and hit freestyle ramps. any suggestions. oh yeah i'm 6'4" 220.

if it's between those two, i'd go with the 400ex. it's a better machine.

The 400EX is the better choice for you. The Warrior is heavy...so Hauling butt, and jumping are definately not its thing.

Warriors are heavy and underpowered.....the 400ex actually weighs only 2 more lbs as the 300ex, which is quite suprising....must be that reverse mechanism....haha!!!

400EX all the way .......... Warriors are great machines if they are used how they are intended be used ..... but I dont think one would suit you with the criteria you presented.

Displacement always is a good thing, but a reverse would settle it for me.Nothing worse that pushing a quad UP,or OUT of somthing bad...

Since you are a big person and if you aren't a Honda loyalist then you might want to look at the DS650. You might be kinda of cramped on the 400ex. I'm 6' and 200lbs and the DS fits me great with plenty of room to spare. I wasn't a fan of the DS650 till I rode one.

DS650's are expensive.

KFX400/Z400! Liquid cooled w/ fan, e start and reverse. You can get a good used one around here for $3500-4000.

You would find neither machine to be a disappointment, but with price being a major factor, youre going to find the 400EX has quite a lower price tag than the Warrior does now, and its a newer design, kind of like a warrior that been upgraded. The Z400 is fine machine too, but I dont think youll find them in the same price range.

I'm going for a 400ex this spring. The 450r that has come out is causing the price to dive to a susprising low. Good ones only fetch between 2000 and 2500 here. Btw, are they availible on the east coast yet?

Warriors aint that bad, after i put in a new stator in my 87 and new pipe it is quick!!! it hits the rev limiter at 61 miles per hour and once i put a one tooth smaller front sproket it will cost me a little torque but lots of top end

1 tooth down on the front will lower your top end.
