You can try ebay. Here's my experience with ebay cdi's. I got my 1980 ATC185 for getting a YTM200e running for a guy. The cdi was bad. I bought a cheap one off of ebay. It said the it fit several different years and models. I put it on and still no spark. I then checked the resistance values of the cdi and one wasn't in specs for my 185. I then bought one that said it was "for" a 1980 ATC185. I checked it before I installed it and it was all within specs. That cdi cost twice what the first one did, but I had spark with it. The first seller didn't lie exactly. It DID fit, it just wouldn't work. Most of the places I've bought electrical parts from say that you can't return it once it's been installed. My advice is to check it before it's installed. That's what I do EVERY time now.

How do I test the CDI?

You need to get a service manual. Either a pdf or a paper one. Then you use a volt meter and follow the instructions in the manual. You're measuring the ohms. There's a chart in the manual that gives you a chart with the specs.

cool, thanks. Didnt have a chance to look through the one I downloaded yet.

My bike is a collection of parts that I'm trying to piece together to make something run.

I got mine on amazon before and have no complaints. Just can't remember the name of the seller though.
