Figured I'd be "that guy" and maybe be allowed to start and official thread to plan for TF17?

TRIKEFEST 2017 IS JUNE 22, 23, 24

Are there things to look forward to? What can we expect to have planned? I have a projector and was planning on a "trike drive-in" last year but it never came to fruition. I'd like to schedule something like that for a movie each night. I have a buncha old 3 wheeling videos I can show too.

Can we discuss possibly electing trikefest officials? Might be hard to have a security force or supervising units, but after last years mini fiascos, there were talks of some enforcement ideas. Specifically at night and with a certain unnoficial saturday night event. I know we can't ask someone to patrol all night, but during peak sundown hours, a roaming presence in the darker and less bustling campsites couldnt hurt.

Although I like the thought of patrols and enforcement, I don't think it will work.
If you look at the average Joe who is on the forums or goes to TF, they want to have a good time with the people who share their love of a sport.
For the most part, these are the people who are not going to get into brawls or speeding where they ain't suppose to and screwing everything up for the rest of us.

But, at any rate, I think it should be discussed. If nothing else, maybe post up a "Rule Book" to remind all of us of some common courtesy and things to keep in mind as to not aggrivate all our trike friends.

I really like your idea of the movie showing. Maybe you could play them at 8 every night and if people wanna come over and watch, they can. I'd love to see some vintage 3 wheeler action. 👍

I agree that it would be hard to have any sort of enforcement considering that we are all equal patrons of the facility for the given time. Unfortunately, when it becomes all equal individuals, there's a chance of some unwarranted rowdiness. Sometimes all it takes is a couple people that are given seniority and authority to keep everyone in check. Im not bouncer material but I have my trike fitted with strobes and I have a hot hookup on getting OFFICIAL or STAFF shirts made

I would love to display old videos and a movie each night. I have a sheet now but I'm sure I will come across a projector screen in the next 6 months

Anybody planning to get there early already? I'm looking to possibly get there earlier during the week if I can have the group I go with take off as well.

I plan to make a week out of Trikefest if possible. I may or may not be coming by myself so wouldn't mind hooking up with some other trikers that are going early too.

I'm planning on it. You're around the block compared to me haha. I'm trying to get a friend in blue springs MO to meet me there too... Long shot tho

Guests posing as any sort of authority figure is just not a good idea. Most of us are not going there to work and singling out people as having any sort of authority who in actuality do not, is only going to make them a target and cause trouble. The point is to stop the poor behavior before it gets out of control because 2016 was the first year for it, not make adjustments to expect the poor behavior to continue.

This may not be the place to sk.....Has there ever been discussion on moving Trikefest to another location? I would love to see it at the Badlands. I'm sure Kyle would welcome the group. Just a thought.

You're free to start whatever kind of event you'd like but I don't think many of the long time Trikefest goers are looking to change the venue.

No, I have no intention of reinventing the wheel, or stepping on toes.....I was just curious.

There's a reason they chose haspin acres. Indiana is pretty much centrally located within the states. That way everyone generally has about the same amount of driving time to get there from coast to coast. If your into big trike gatherings in the dunes, check out imperial invasion. If your into ice races, head up to NY. If you wanna attend trikefest, you go to Indiana. There are plenty of other big trike events all over the country. Something for everyone. But there is only one trikefest. Plain and simple.

Hell, here in PA I just go to the races to hang out for a weekend with about 100 other trikers and friends. Sometimes I race, usually I just go for a good time and to show some support. I hope I get to race more this year now that I have a 250r rather than running hardtail or mini classes as long as work allows it. I'm out of state for a few months.

I totally understand the central US thing. When I said the Badlands, I meant the Badlands in Attica Indiana. Both parks are great. Of you have never been to the Badlands in Attica, you should check it out. It is an awesome place. I have been to both Haspin and the Badlands......like I said both are great. Sorry for the confusion of there was any, and I also apologize if I insulted anyone with my question.

I heard rumors of no night riding, which effectively ruins barrel racing and the herk and jerk.

And driving down to the river. Some say no, some say yes....

Pete always let us do just about anything, but Pete is no longer there.

I could not go last year but I heard about the problems and things got stolen, someone stashed a trike in the woods etc etc.

That stuff HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE!!

It's akin to leaving your house unlocked until someone in the neighborhood gets murdered; Then you have to lock the doors!!

Ok.....Despite what might never happen at Trikefest before, Haspin has always had thefts of machines at that park and I've been going there since the late 80's.....Jeeps, trucks, ATVs, dirtbike, whatever....It's been stolen from Haspin before.

The place has had its share of group brawls, minor fisticuffs, nudity, public sex, drinking and drug use. I've seen it all at Haspin since I was a teen.

It has ALWAYS been known as a rowdy place to go four-wheelin.

The locals like to sneak in and steal machines as much as the patrons do (remember the water truck joyride?) Some of it helps fund the Rural Indiana Methamphetamine Fund. These are just the facts of Haspin.

Now when I went to my first Trikefest, I was honestly blown away about how tame it all was considering all my past experiences at Haspin.... Regardless, I still locked up all my stuff because it's Haspin and honestly, you should too. Nothing against trikers but it's not the trikers I'm afraid of. It's just good measure to lock up your stuff because it's still open to the public, it's as hard to patrol as the Mexican-American border, and locals know how to sneak in there at night.

Until you can control anyone of those three things, you might be able to leave your stuff unattended and unmolested but you might reconsider that decision. Trust and Honor won't get your stuff back.

Damn, that's just wrong!

That's the truth. That has happened close to home.

I think the movie thing would be cool, I'm not sure but I can't imagine barrel races and herk and jerk stopping

I was told no rides past 10 and that includes trikefest. That is almost a deal breaker for me and i have always enjoyed the late rides. They make a good amount of money that week so it would be nice if they could make an exception for us... A big part of the event takes place past ten!

No doubt ,I love riding at night and going around from camp to camp

Group rides to the tree and night rides around the place with people i only see once a year was my favorite part of trikefest!

They are probably having to do this to comply with local noise ordinances, something that affects all off-road and motorsports places nowadays.

We will see what transpires, but I implore and beg of everyone, if they say its motors off at 10pm, abide by that so that we treat them and their rules with respect and do not wear out our welcome.

If that ends up being true we'll have to do the barrel races and herk and jerk a little earlier.

I've been avoiding replying to this subject because personally I feel as though the less attention paid to it, possibly the better. It goes without saying we are subject to whatever it is the hosting property wants as far as rules go. Just remember why this is happening and be vigilant towards those with obvious ill will. From the horse's mouth we were told last year we could come and go as we pleased until ten o'clock, after which we could not leave the camping area, however... You could return to the camping area at any time you wished, whether that be midnight or 3 am or not until the next day, that was fine. If you camped outside of the camping area, you could ride at any hour I was lead to believe. This was last year though and in no way should be taken as what the rules will be this year. If they get tough on us it's for good reason. For those who feel as though they'd rather just give up, by all means... Those who are supposed to be there will be and personally, after last year, I wouldn't be disappointed with a small crowd.

If people would leave the ear drum bursting, bowel loosening, crackling annoying, loud go to hell pipe trikes and bikes at camp late at night and stick to quieter trikes and bikes with stock pipes, perhaps we wouldn't draw near as much attention to ourselves. I'm just sayin. Some of those bikes I guarantee you can hear a mile or more away.

As fun as riding a drag bike to the shoe tree at 1am is, this is true.

Yeah I'm guilty too. I never noticed until Tristan rode off without me one night and between that DG and the Cobra on the other bike, I heard them all the way to the shoe tree. It doesn't sound that loud when you're sitting in front of the muzzle of those loud pipes
