YTM 200 -- Pull Start (k model?) 1983-1985 -- Tail light dying after I throttle...

I just found out my trikes rear electrical panel isnt present, is this only required for the rear light? or the front as well....I have only tried the tail light and it died when I throttled.

I know the lack of regulator is doing it, but does the regulator have to be present for both lights? or just tail light..
